THE KINNIGANS

An Irish Delight!

IMG_0513 (3).jpeg

Atlanta favorites John Maschinot and Evan Kinney join forces with New Orleans based duo Mickey Nelligan and Sasha Hsuczyk for foot-stomping, roof raising Irish music goodness!

A four piece band of brilliant musicians that captures the vitality, verve, vim and vigor of the Irish music hall of the last century, The Kinnigans offer a delightful performance sure to get you out of your seat - or at the very least, tap your feet!

Formed in 2020, the members of The Kinnigans have actually been making great music together for decades, in one fashion or another. Brothers Evan Kinney and Mickey Nelligan (thus the name “Kinnigans”) have been making music together all their lives. Sasha Hsuczyk has been playing and performing  with Mickey for years in New Orleans, and senior member “Uncle” John Maschinot has been playing with all of them, in some fashion or another, for as long as he can remember (and that’s a long time!).

The Kinnigan’s warm, witty stage presentation compliments their mastery of the music.  The powerful combination of fiddle, uilleann pipes, flute, melodeon, guitar, bodhran, vocals and a bit of Irish sean nós (old style) dance offers a classic traditional Irish performance best experienced live to appreciate.

The Kinnigans are...

John Maschinot plays uilleann pipes and Irish flute - and has been for the past 4 decades. John has performed and toured with several notable bands including The Buddy O’Reilly Band, Ah Surely and Celtic Fire.

Evan Kinney plays guitar and fiddle and sings. Evan’s a multi-instrumentalist as well as a multi-genre musician, crossing over from Irish to “old-time” music with ease. Evan’s performed with The Griddle Lickers and Ah Surely, and extensively with his brother Mickey Nelligan.

Mickey Nelligan plays melodeon (button accordion), banjo and fiddle. Mickey hails from a musical family (including his brother Evan Kinney) and performs with his new Orleans based band The Sisters Street Aces.

Sasha Hsuczyk plays fiddle, dances in the sean nós (old style Irish) style and sings. Sasha lived abroad in Ireland for a few years, studying fiddle at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick City. Sasha specializes in the fiddling style of the Sliabh Luachra region of Ireland and particularly sites the legendary fiddler Julia Clifford as one of her main influences. Sasha also performs with her New Orleans based band The Sister Street Aces.
